As part of the Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 the council monitors its performance to help us see how well services are performing, where we are doing well and where we need to improve.
We use performance indicators to assess our performance and include measures set by the Welsh Government, Welsh Local Government Association and those set by the council to meet our local needs.
We also monitor feedback from service users and consult with communities and residents and independent regulators such as Welsh Government, Care Inspectorate Wales and Estyn.
Annual report
An annual report is required by the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act and Local Government Measure 2009, and provides an overview of the progress being made against the council’s Corporate Plan 2017-2022 (pdf).

Data Cymru
The Data Cymru site can be used to compare the council's performance against National Strategic Indicators (NSIs) and Public Accountability Measures (PAMs).
Planning, performance and risk management
The Integrated Planning, Performance, and Risk Management Framework (pdf) supports the delivery of the council’s objectives by developing a culture that is able to effectively plan, demonstrate clear outcomes that benefit our stakeholders, and be resilient to the opportunities and risks encountered.
These principles also support the council’s decision-making at every level of the organisation.
To support the Framework, a Planning and Performance Policy (pdf) and Risk Management Policy (pdf) have been developed.
Both policies outline the governance and processes undertaken by the council to monitor its performance and manage risks.
The council’s Corporate Risk Register is monitored by the Cabinet and Audit Committee.
External regulators
An independent public body, the Wales Audit Office (WAO) helps to ensure that local councils discharge their duties.
