Opening hours

Monday to Thursday: 11am-1pm and 2pm-4.30pm

Friday: 11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm

Saturday: 11am-1pm and 1.30pm-3pm 

Current charges

Dogs entering the kennels are checked for illness or injury and are treated by a vet if necessary.

Owners have seven days to claim their dog and every effort is made by the wardens and kennel staff to contact owners.

There is a charge for this service which must be paid before the dog is collected (cash or cheque with bankers card accepted). 

Dogs reclaimed after one day £97 per dog

Dogs reclaimed after two day £112 per dog

Dogs reclaimed after three day £127 per dog

Dogs reclaimed after four day £141 per dog

Dogs reclaimed after five day £156 per dog

Dogs reclaimed after six overnight stays £170 per dog

Dogs reclaimed after seven overnight stays £185 per dog

Dogs reclaimed and staying with the kennels for an extended period (charge per night) £11.50 per dog

Removal from home = £50.96

Further, where the Council has found it necessary to pay for an additional service for the dog  including the out of hours provision or vet treatment, the fees should be passed on to the owner reclaiming the dog. However there will be discretion given to the Kennels Officer on the level of charging due to unusual circumstances.

Re-homing fees

The price of each dog is variable and will be established taking the characteristics of each dog into consideration  The minimum price will be £108.00 

  • If the dog has received treatment from a vet the cost will be recovered from the person reclaiming
  • If an owner claims their dog and wants the kennels to look after it for an extended period there will be a charge of £11 per night
  • If another body authorised to deal with stray dogs uses the kennels a fee will be applied
  • In unusual circumstances the kennels officer will use discretion on the level of charging
